Changes, San Francisco Giants

With major league teams going through trading frenzies this off-season, Baseball Musings takes a look at the players added by each team this off-season, continuing with the World Champion San Francisco Giants. The Giants brought in the following players from other organizations:

Talk about standing pat. The Giants replace Pablo Sandoval with McGehee. McGehee should make fewer outs than Sandoval on average, but not hit for as much power. Sandoval’s power was on the decline, so this could easily be a wash for the Giants. Aoki is another player good at getting on base.

The Giants didn’t really address the rotation. Outside of Madison Bumgarner, the rotation was either old or injured. The transition from a team dependent on pitching to one dependent on offense continues.
