The Rockies owner says Troy Tulowitzki is staying put:
“It’s not happening. I can’t speak for him, but yeah, we want him. I think he’s strong and he’s worked hard and he’ll be back. He’ll be Tulo of old.”
Basically, the Rockies want a lot for Tulowitzki, and they are not willing to pick up any of his remaining contract. That may change as the season progresses. If a team like the Mets finds they are in competition mid-summer, and Troy is playing well, they may decide to meet the Rockies price.
When healthy, Tulowitzki should be the kind of player who brings back prospects that can rebuild a team. The Rockies are wise to wait for the right package, especially if they feel Tulowitzki will be healthy this year.
