The First Slay of Pompey

Dalton Pompey hits his first major league home run for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the fifth against Felix Hernandez and the Mariners. The solo shot ties the game at two. He came into the the game just 3 for 19 with no extra base hits during his cup of coffee.

Update: After the homer, the Blue Jays load the bases with one out against Hernandez, and he walks in a run! He faced nine batters with the bases loaded this season, and walked two of them.

Facing his tenth batter in that situation, the Blue Jays single, and now lead the Mariners 5-2. The King is struggling when the Mariners needed him to come up big.

Update: Hernandez faces ten batters in the inning, gives up five runs, and leaves with the bases loaded and the Blue Jays leading 6-2. The Mariners playoff hopes are fading fast.

Update: Dominic Leone comes into the game and hits a batter. For the second night in a row, the Blue Jays are blowing out the Mariners.

Update: Another single before the inning ends makes the score 8-2. Hernandez is charged with eight earned runs and his ERA rises to 2.34.
