Braves New World

There seems to be some inklings that Frank Wren will not be the Braves general manager much longer. Getting swept by the Rangers in the middle of a wild card race will do that.

I’m not sure what Wren could have done differently. He lost his best pitchers to injury, and the veterans he brought in to replace them actually performed pretty well. The B.J. Upton contract was poor, but a team with a core of Justin Upton, Freddie Freeman, and Jason Heyward should have a lot of upside. I’m actually quite impressed with both the Braves and the Yankees, given the injuries they suffered this season.

The Braves are still in a playoff race, but no one is at the park tonight to watch them play the Nationals. That’s pretty pathetic.

Atlanta hasn’t supported the Braves well for years. Even in the playoffs they’ve had empty seats. I wonder how long that new stadium out in the white suburbs will stay sold out once it’s built.

Around the Peach State it seems fans are simply waiting for the Braves to go to the World Series.

    . . .and lose.

The common mantra here is, “How soon before the Braves lose it?”

This, even after 14 division titles in a row.

On the other hand; I can buy a seat for a dollar and sit behind the visitor dugout on most nights. 😉
